St Mary's Church Blundeston

The Annual Teddy Bears Parchuting and Flower Festival took place o
ver the weekend Saturday 7th and Sunday 8th June. A total of over 500 teddy Bears and variuos other toys braved the jump from the top of the Church tower, some of them even venturing up more than once! The displays of flowers inside the Church were on the theme of village organisations and involved the flower arranging skills of a wide cross section of the community.
Refreshments were available for the whole weekend and there were also many stalls, including crafts, flowers and plants and a tombola stall
The whole weekend raised over £2,700 for the Church fabric fund which is set aside for the maintainence and repair of this historic building.

Taverham Band Concert: Blundeston Church 15 June 2008.
It was a disappointingly small, but very appreciative audience of around fifty people who enjoyed this splendid concert by the Taverham Brass Band under the leadership of their musical director, Ian Colman. We were entertained by a wide selection of popular music which included well known pieces from West end shows and from film scores. The band members were very complimentary about the acoustics of the Church Building saying that it is one of the best venues that they play in. Those acoustics were certainly put to the test during a rousing rendition of the film theme from Pearl Harbour and the finale, a selection from Glen Miller. One of the highlights of the afternoon was a moving Flugel Horn solo, Der Einsame Hirte, by Amelia Hazelwood. Splendid solos were also performed by Denise Ramsbottom on the Baritone Cornet and Diane Bush on the Euphonium.
For those of you that missed the concert and for all who enjoyed it and want to hear the band again, then make a note in your diaries for next year as they are booked for Blundeston Church on 28 June 2009.
